Boycie, Mark Thomas and Tape Face - This Week at Bristol's Redgrave TheatrePosted on: 19 Sep 2016
The Redgrave Theatre has a stunning lineup this week. John Challis brings his Only Fools And Boycie evening to the Clifton venue before Mark Thomas plays two nights followed by the incredible Tape Face for another two shows to round off the Bristol theatre's week in style.
The Redgrave Theatre is located at Clifton College in Bristol. The auditorium seats 323 people and there is plenty of on-street parking available around the venue. Here's a look at the three great shows this week...
Only Fools And Boycie: An Evening with John Challis - Monday 19th September
Boycie is coming to town! John Challis take to the stage at the Redgrave Theatre in Bristol for one night only - a must for any fan of Only Fools and Horses. In this stage show he will draw on his years of experience as the car salesman everyone hated to love - anecdotes from his years alongside Sir David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst and the late Roger Lloyd-Pack amongst others will no-doubt be prevalent, but you can also expect revealing stories about The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, George Best and Oliver Reed. Having worked in Dr Who, Coronation Street and other TV classics, there's no end to his repertoire.
The show begins at 7:30pm and will run for approximately 90 minutes with a 20 minute interval. Tickets are priced at £16 and available at the Redgrave Theatre's event page.
Mark Thomas: Red Shed - Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd September
Red Shed is the third part in a trilogy that started with the multi-award winning shows Bravo Figaro and Cuckooed. Mark Thomas returns to the place where he first started to perform in public, a red wooden shed in Wakefield, the Labour Club, to celebrate the club’s 50th birthday.
Interviewing old friends and comrades, Mark pieces together the club’s history and works with the club to campaign with some of the poorest paid workers in the country for their rights. It is the story of the battle for hope and the survival of a community in a small wooden shed. It is part theatre, part stand up, part journalism, part activism and returns to Mark’s obsessions of community and struggle. The show will involve the audience (in a nice way, we're reliably informed!) to help recreate the shed and its inhabitants.
Doors open at 7:15pm - seating is unreserved - and the show begins at 8pm. Tickets are priced at £16.50 and available at the Redgrave Theatre's event page.
Tape Face: The Boy With Tape On His Face - Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th September
What a spectacle to have in Bristol! Tape Face is an incredible one man show like you have never seen before. This is stand-up comedy with no talking, drama with no acting and punch lines with no words. The artist formerly known as The Boy with Tape on His Face brings you a multi-award winning, multi-hyphenate spectacle that needs to be seen to be believed.
Total sell-out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for four years in a row, four sold-out UK tours, a smash hit run in London's West End, a critically acclaimed marvel around the world and a standing ovation from the judges and audience on America's Got Talent. That should go some way to convincing you of just how great a performance this will be!
Doors open at 7:15pm and the show begins at 8pm. Tickets are priced at £16.50 and available at the Redgrave Theatre's event page.
