Westcountry Pilsner launched with more than a little help from Bristol Blue Glass

Posted on: 09 Sep 2016

Bristol Blue Glass helped launch a great new Westcountry inspired beer from Meantime Brewing Company at the King Street Brew House. At a gala event on Thursday 8 September 2016, both the glasses and the beer were given their first outing!

Hourglass Westcountry Pilsner

Leading craft brewer Meantime Brewing Company  challenged pioneering glass makers, Bristol Blue Glass, to create twenty four hand-blown glasses for Meantime’s ‘Make Time For It’ pop-up bar in just six weeks, the same time it will take Meantime to brew them a bespoke beer full of flavour. Boy, did both deliver!

Meantime's West Country Pilsner is inspired by Bristol Blue Glass’s history and distinctive style, as well as the regions cider-producing heritage. Now it has been revealed, the beer will be available for beer fans to purchase from Meantime’s online store, brewery shop and Tasting Rooms at the brewery in Greenwich.

James Adlington, founder of Bristol Blue Glass, says:

“Bristol Blue Glass was founded in 1988 as a way to re-establish a tradition that had been lost for over 60 years: the art of glass-making. Twenty-eight years on, we still endeavour to keep the tradition alive and are always looking for new and innovative ways to do so. Our involvement in this campaign has allowed us to really push the boundaries of glass blowing and create something unique for Meantime.

I can’t wait for the launch where we can taste the beer Meantime have brewed specially for us, from the Hourglass we designed to serve it in.”

For further info on Bristol Blue Glass please visit www.bristol-glass.co.uk. Although most famous for its traditional Bristol Blue Glass, they also sells a variety of art glass in number of amazing colours...not only Blue! You can even pop in and watch the glass making for free! There are also a number of courses available, allowing visitors to try their hand at the art of glass making and learn some of the skills required to fashion molten glass into beautiful and useful objects. These classes are currently designed for beginners but can be tailored to individual’s skill level as required.

They currently have an incredible offer running where you can blow your own unique blue glass bauble for just £20 - Both the bauble and the experience itself would make a great gift with a difference!
