Inspired by great and iconic sporting events such as Wimbledon, Tour of Britain and the Rio 2016 Olympics, the range of activities will see the streets of Broadmead come alive with the exuberant energy and physical challenges of those great events.

Completely free to take part in, the programme will include the likes of fitness classes from the instructors at Pure Gym, cycle challenges from Cycle Republic, and rowing with LinkAge, to name but three.

A raft of local groups, organisations and clubs will also be showcasing a thrilling range of workshops and displays to entertain and involve the passing shopping masses, with the likes of boxing, dance, tumbling, cheerleading, handball and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu putting on demonstrations and encouraging everyone to get involved between their cappuccinos and consumerism.

With The Galleries seeing the likes of The Entertainer, Shaw Trust, The Fragrance Shop and Bonmarche being some of the new additions to it shopping mall, it too will be participating in the Summer of Sport. Every Wednesday until 31st August there will be a variety of sporting activities taking place on the ground floor, while the first floor will see the appearance of an indoor beach where the kids can play and build sandcastles (and the parents take a well-earned break).

As if that all wasn't enough, from 20th to 27th August the Broadmead BID team will merge with PureGym for the very first Tour of Broadmead which will be a static cycle challenge replicating the Tour of Britain which will sweep through the city on Saturday 10th September for stages 7a and 7b of the cycling event.
