Those with an interest in Bristol's history will be able to take a fascinating tour of the city when M Shed presents its Historic Walk: Bristol's Burning! 1831 Riots on Wednesday 24 August 2016.

One of the most dramatic events in the whole of British history, the Bristol riots occurred in October 1831 and left the city totally devastated, the aftermath of which resulted in hundreds of protesters either dead or dying while buildings had been reduced to flames and crumbling wrecks.

An expert tour guide will take you around the key sites of the riot, explaining the causes and consequences of a period of unrest in Bristol history that represented one of its darkest hours.

The tour kicks off from M Shed at 5.45pm and there is a 'pay what you think' policy.
