BedmOlympics in Bedminster

Two days after the opening ceremony of Rio 2016, the Bedmolympics will kick off in true Bedminster fashion, with Bedminster Bobsleigh, street games and art, crafts, picnic benches, street theatre, frog racing, kids’ workshops, stages, street art and more.

The headline event for Make Sunday Special will be the very first Bedminster Bobsleigh race, an epic ‘Cool Runnings’ style race through lower North Street. As if that wasn’t enough, there will also be a giant human table football for all to enjoy.

Street artists in the making will be able to try their hand at a graffiti picture to take home, children’s crafts will be hosted along North Street and The Old Bookshop will host a Caribbean style extravaganza.

Make Sunday Special will see lower North Street closed off, traffic-free and overflowing with fun for all the family. Buskers will take up stations the street alongside picnic tables filled with games and local business and pubs spilling out onto the street and offering tasty morsels to keep you going throughout the day.

“Last year’s Make Sunday Special saw thousands of people gather on the streets of Bedminster to make one huge community event.

The whole community and all the businesses get together to create entertainment and spill out on to the streets with food and drinks.

We're on the lookout for volunteers to help us in the organisation and always welcome ideas from the public, if anyone has any thoughts they can send these to markets@bedminster.org

This amazing day has something for everyone. Make sure to get down and experience all that Bedminster has to offer!

Bedminster Improvement District, Greater Bedminster Community Partnership and Bristol City Council make this year’s edition possible. The event will run from 10am - 4pm. For more information on the event visit the guys Twitter and Facebook page.
