With so much choice available in Bristol, reputation is everything. Reputations don’t get much bigger than a near-perfect Trip Advisor rating and forever at the very top or thereabouts of the charts when it comes to ALL, not just Indian, restaurants in Bristol – that’s out of nearly 1,200 listed in the city and surrounding areas. That’s quite a title to have and quite something to live up to. Try just one dish and you’ll see that live up to it they do, and then some.
Using less oil, no artificial colours and fresh ingredients ensures their cooking is always light and fresh. What sets them apart from many others in the fit-to-burst Indian restaurant sector is the fact they serve genuine Indian food from the true sources. At Urban Tandoor, you will find cuisine from the gourmet homes and street stalls across India’s regions, all prepared by skilled chefs from those regions. It’s as close to the real thing you will find.

Whilst the menu is packed with all your favourite curry-house classics, these are prepared and served in a more authentic and thoughtful way – this really isn’t anything like the drab offerings from the local takeaway on a Friday night! Presented beautifully, definitely a rarity for this type of cuisine, the food is the real jewel in the already impressive crown. One taste of their famous Garlic Chicken Tikka starter and you’ll understand what all the fuss is about.
Most people will have their favourite Indian restaurant already; such is the hit-and-miss nature of this cuisine.
