Celebrating Sanctuary - 12 June 2016 - Part of Bristol Refugee Week

On Sunday 12 June 2016 head to Queen Square in Bristol for a free and family-friendly day of entertainment, food, crafts more. Part of Bristol Refugee Week, this event celebrates our city’s great multiculturalism.

 

This event is a FREE Festival of Refugee Music, Arts and Information. It is suitable for everyone and there will be a huge mix of information, food, drinks and craft stalls on the day in addition to entertainment throughout the afternoon. For the kids there will be a bouncy castle, workshops, henna and face painting. Bristol Bike Project will be running free bike maintenance workshops throughout the afternoon.


The exciting event will really open your eyes as they showcase the potential and some of the great talent that the refugee community in Bristol has to offer.


The live music kicks off at 1pm and includes...

 

Mousa Kouyate - Sengalese kora,
Zenah Najjuka - Ugandan Dance,
Long Sho (Rise Up) - Tibetan music and dance,
Dijwar Khalil and Ammar Kabi - Syrian Saz and Darbuka 
Rory Mcleod - "Singer Songwriter; a modern travelling troubadour"
Nabra - an oud duo playing an intoxicating blend of Sudanese and Middle Eastern influences
Kurdish Music and Dance - Join Kaiwan and Knud in Kurdish song for dance 
SomoS - Upbeat Columbian & Cuban mix
African Sambistas - African samba dance and drum fusion guaranteed to get you dancing!

 

From 1pm until 6pm - at the beautiful Queen Square in the centre of Bristol - this event will certainly be a huge hit and we at 365Bristol can’t wait to see what’s on offer besides the great music line-up. It’s the perfect way to spend a few minutes, few hours, or the full day! Just pop in and get involved.
