The Fleece is unarguably one of the things that makes Bristol great. It has stood the test of time, stood up against potential crisis, and made it out the other side bigger and stronger for it. Whether you’re looking for a decent club night, some live music from a band you don’t now just yet, or a big-time touring band, The Fleece has you covered.

Tucked away in a pretty unassuming part of the city, The Fleece is a true gem that has a history more storied than almost anywhere else in the city. Some of the biggest artists in the world have played this little venue, and the crowds have got the stories to tell – just try not to get stuck behind one of the poles supporting this glorious old building, yeah?

Wednesday 1st June 2016 : The Summer Showcase Series

 

4 of the finest alternative indie acts of the South West, namely: Lovepet Horror at 7:45pm, Socket at 8:30pm, Strangerfield 9:15pm, We Are Parkas 10:00pm. Tickets are just £5 and will be available on the door which opens at 7pm.

 

Friday 3rd June - The Hi-Lo Maiden show has been rescheduled to Friday 15 July 2016 however Break Stuff Nu Metal is on!

In light of the cancellation of Temples Festival 2016, we have worked tirelessly to bring you as many sets from across the originally planned weekend as possible. We are now pleased to confirm that legendary black metallers Mayhem will play The Fleece on Fri 3rd June and will be joined by Esoteric. We at The Fleece are very saddened to learn of the cancellation of Temples Festival 2016. In light of this cancellation, we are working to bring you as many sets from across the originally planned weekend as possible. We are pleased to confirm that The Fleece will play host to following all-day line up on Saturday 4th June: Bongripper / Dragged Into Sunlight / Primitive Man / Rameses / Arabrot / ACxDC / Boak.

Saturday 4th June 2016 : Land of the Giants - now postponed until 19th August at request of the venue to make way for Temples Festival - The Fleece is very grateful to the band for agreeing to move their show as such short notice. All tickets for the original date remain valid..

 

Sunday 5th June 2016 : The Urban Voodoo Machine

 

A Sunday freak out with The Urban Voodoo Machine at The Fleece in Bristol when the amazingly talented songwriter/ frontman Paul-Ronney Angel along with his band creates a distinguished and creatively delightful brand of Bourbon Soaked Gypsy Blues Bop 'n' Stroll. A collective of shadowy London based ne'er do wells, the band consists of around 12 musicians most of the time and will no doubt put on another astounding performance. Tickets are £14.85 here.

 

Monday 6th June 2016 : The Parlotones

 

The Parlotones are a band from Johannesburg, South Africa. They have also toured extensively in Germany, the UK and the USA and are described as a mix of rock, pop, indie and alternative. Always a great show and tickets are £16.50 available here.

Friday 10th June 2016 : The Bohemains - Queen Tribute Band

 

Established in 1996, The Bohemians re-enact the glory days of Queen including the Craziness of the '70s and the Magic of the '80s proving themselves to be the most impressive and followed Queen Tribute Band. Tickets are £16.50 available here.

 

Saturday 11th June 2016 : EURO 2016 GIANT SCREEN FOOTBALL AT THE FLEECE : FREE ENTRY

 

5pm Wales v Slovakia and 8pm England v Russia. Watch both games on 2 giant screens with full commentary through one of the best sound systems in Bristol. Cheap drinks / free entry / no dickheads!!

Legendary British ska band Bad Manners return to Bristol as a part of its 40 year anniversary tour. The Fleece has seen some of the awesome performances by the band, led by frontman Buster Blookvessel. Tickets are £19.80 and are available here.

Friday 17th June : Dead Men Walking

 

After almost a decade away from the UK clubs Dead Men Walking return in June 2016 for a 9 date re-introduction jaunt. Founding member Kirk Brandon (Spear of Destiny/Theatre of Hate) will be joined by much heralded rhythm section Segs and Ruffy from The Ruts on acoustic bass, percussion and vocals. Jake Burns, legendary front man of Stiff Little Fingers, will be ‘Flying The Flag’ for Northern Ireland. Tickets are £18 and available here.

 

Saturday 18th June : Hells Bells - AC/DC Tribute Band

 

Hells Bells are an accomplished AC/DC Tribute Band who have performed all over the UK as well as Portugal, Austria, Russia, Belgium, Czech Republic and the Middle East. If you love AC/DC then you’ll love their high energy performance. Tickets are £12 and available here.

 

Thursday 23rd June : Panic Room

 

Panic Room are fronted by Anne-Marie Helder – winner of ‘Best Female Vocalist’ (PROG Magazine), with a soaring voice and mesmerising stage-presence which see her hailed as one of the finest frontwomen of her generation. On lead guitar the band recently welcomed Dave Foster to their ranks (Steve Rothery, Mr So-&-So), and on bass they have the legendary Yatim Halimi (Toto, Robert Palmer, Simply Red). Gavin Griffiths is one of the most in-demand drummers in Britain, who has also worked with Fish, Bill Nelson & Mostly Autumn. Altogether PANIC ROOM have a world class line-up of musicians, who come alive when playing these incredible and award-winning songs. Tickets are £16 and available here.

 

Friday 24th June : The Jam DRC and London Calling

 

A mutual love for The Jam is the driving force behind The Jam DRC. Named after the 5CD box set, which gathers together pretty much everything the Jam ever recorded, The Jam DRC are Jam fans playing Jam songs. The song list is extensive and gets in all the popular numbers plus some unexpected ones, capturing what The Jam were like at their height and in their live element. If you’re getting into The Jam, then this live set gives a good impression of what they were really all about. Classic singles, B – Sides and album tracks like, “Thick As Thieves,” “Little Boy Soldiers,” “Life From A Window,” “Billy Hunt,” and the underrated, vitriolic “Set The House Ablaze,” all delivered with mastery. If you never saw The Jam live, then The Jam DRC go some way in showing how great they were. The Jam DRC are as close to the sound and power as you can get. Tickets are £12 and available here.

 

Sunday 26th June : The Apples

 

The Apples is an Israeli funk, jazz and groove nine piece – including a drummer, upright bassist, 4 brass, 2 DJs and a sound console operator. The Apples started out in 2002, with the idea was to create a funky base combined with samples, scratching, and a dominant brass division. Their first impressions were actually spontaneous improvisations, which formed the basis of The Apple’s first album, ‘Mitz’ (Hebrew for ‘juice’), published on 2003, which was recorded in one recording session. Monday 27th and Tuessday 28th June 2016 : Victor Wooten

 

Earlier scheduled to be a single day event, Victor Wooten has now been extended for 2 days due to popular demand. There is hardly any award (given to a bassist) that this bass virtuoso has not won. Bass Player Magazine has awarded him as the bassist of the year more than once. Having won acclaim as being a member of jazz and funk fusion super group Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, the 5 time Grammy Award winner is considered as one of the best musicians throughout the world. Wednesday 29th June 2016 : Guts

 

Spreading the affection across the UK, GUTS will perform at The Fleece in Bristol to promote their next album ‘Hip Hop After All’. Dedicating himself to Hip-hop for the past 25 years, he finally plans to present a loop of 16 different tracks with each track nestling inside the other to form a single piece. Thursday 30th June 2016 : Summer Showcase continues

 

Continuing the ‘Summer Showcase Series’ in its superb trend, the next show is scheduled at The Fleece in Bristol on 30 June 2016 whereby the audience can enjoy the 4 of the best alternative pop acts in the South West, namely: Oriana Weids at 7:45pm, Goats In Trees at 8:30pm, Trenchard at 9:15pm, Siblings Of Us at 10pm.
