The Bristol Ball 2016: Through the Looking Glass

The Bristol Ball 2016: Through the Looking Glass

Posted on: 10 May 2016

Modern day slavery is today’s worst and most forgotten tragedy; it is the trading and exploitation of people for profit. The Bristol Ball on 3 June 2016 is an event inspired to reveal this injustice and raise funds to aid those who have been affected by this industry.

The Bristol Ball 2016: Through the Looking Glass

The Bristol Ball is a charity black-tie ball held at The Station near Broadmead that aims to fight human-trafficking and modern day slavery in Bristol. This is the third year it's been running and this year’s theme is an Alice in Wonderland style. The name of the event this year is "The Bristol Ball Presents: Through the Looking Glass". Early-bird tickets are available but this deal ends on Saturday 14th May at midnight, at that point prices will go up. All proceeds go to Unseen UK who are a locally based national charity that works towards the prevention of modern day slavery, as well as helping victims of it.

“The night itself will be an opportunity to look ‘through the looking glass’ and realise the harsh reality of human trafficking in our city. The evening will consist of a variety of bands, photo-booths, and entertainment however central to the evening will be a short talk from a representative of Free Bristol (a group dedicated to raising awareness of modern day slavery). Amidst the fun and celebration will be an understanding of the purpose of the event – it is a united pursuit of a free Bristol.” Sarah Dowdeswell - Event Manager
