Young Bristol stars triumph at county golf tournament

Posted on: 09 May 2016

Six boys from Long Ashton Golf Club in Bristol - Nathan Moore, Will Lewis, Josh Hewitt, Milan Reed, Loui Ross and Issac Feltham - were amongst 38 boys playing in the County Championship at Naunton Downs Golf Club in Gloucestershire and had an amazing day all round!

Sunday 8 May 2016 saw the juniors competing for glory in under 14, under 15 and under 16 age-group titles. It was players from Long Ashton Golf Club who dominated on the day, taking all three titles between them. Will Lewis (age 13) took the u14 and u15 titles and even took club mate Nathan Moore (age 16) to a playoff in the u16 race. Nathan denied Will a clean sweep though as he won the first playoff hole and claimed the title. Both shot gross scored of 73 - just two over par.

Nathan’s trophy was extra special as it has been won by Chris Wood twice back in 2002 and 2003 so great to be following in Chris’s footsteps. A favourite son of Long Ashton, Chris is the current world number 52 and no doubt an inspiration to all the youngsters at the club.

Attention now turns to the South West Under 16/14 Championships which will be staged at Honiton Golf Club in Devon on Thursday 2nd June.
