Here’s just a few ideas of things to do this Bank Holiday Weekend in Bristol. Shrek The Musical continues at The Bristol Hippodrome until 7th September – book tickets online here – and there are matinee performances on both Saturday and Sunday.

 

What The Ladybird Heard continues at The Colston Hall until Sunday if you are looking to treat the kids.

 

The ZZ Tops are at The Tunnels next to Bristol Temple Meads railway station on Saturday 23rd August. The tribute act will be bringing their red hot Texan boogie and blues to one of Bristol’s great music venues and tickets are £10 in advance as well as available on the door.


The Plough Inn in Pilning have a weekend of fun planned with it’s All Day Rocker Festival on Sunday – tickets are £10 in advance (call 01454 632556) or £15 on the gate.

 

Charlie’s Bar on the Wells Road have a full weekend programme with DJ Ricky’s Disco on Friday, live sport followed by live music with Kev on Saturday, Roast Dinners and more disco on Sunday and a free barbecue on Monday. If you are out and about near the Wells Road then give them a try. Charlie’s is located opposite the Broad Walk Shopping Centre.

SPORT

 

Bristol Rugby have a pre-season friendly away at London Irish on Friday night as they look to build on their Greene King IPA Championship quest for 2014/15. The fans are happy for Bristol Rugby to lose a couple during the season as long as they don’t choke again when hitting the play offs.


Bristol City are playing away at Rochdale Town on Saturday afternoon and will be looking to continue their unbeaten run in League 1. Rochdale picked p their first points of the season with a 5-2 away mauling of Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night whereas Bristol City could only manage a goalless draw versus Leyton Orient at Ashton Gate.


Bristol Rovers take on Telford United at The Memorial Stadium in Horfield on Saturday and will be looking to pick up their first win of the season in the Vanarama Conference. They have really stuttered into the season picking up just one point from three games. On Bank Holiday Monday 25th August Bristol Rovers are away to Forest Green Rovers so just a short trip up the M5. For those that are stuck at home the game is being shown live on BT Sport at 1pm.


Bank Holiday Monday will see 16,000 cricket fans descend on The Bristol County Ground in Horfield as England take on India in the first of a five match One Day International Series. The England team have been in fine form in the test series and are big favourites tom bring home an opening day win.
