Wonderland - Bristol Hippodrome Theatre Review

Our rating:

This bright and colourful, modern twist of the classic tale by Lewis Carroll really went above and beyond all my expectations.

As the curtain went up the stage was instantly filled by the wonderful voice of Kerry Ellis playing Alice. In this version, Alice is a single mum dealing with the ups and downs in her life, an ex husband and taking care of her daughter Ellie, played by Naomi Morris. When the white rabbit appears she takes a leap into Wonderland to try and figure out her true self.

Wonderland - Bristol Hippodrome Theatre Review

You can expect to see all the usual characters, with a modern twist. The costumes are quirky but the acting and vocal talents of all the performers are exceptional, especially Wendy Peters (of Eastenders fame) who takes the part of the Queen.

The songs are epic and this feels like it's going to be a winner with young and old alike. The show’s ending is greeted by a standing ovation from the crowd and a lasting impression for me.

This was one of the best shows I have seen for a long time.

We were lucky enough to pass the stage door upon leaving, where we were able to request autographs and photos from six of the main performers, who were all more than happy to oblige.

Catch this show if you can, it's going to be a winner. Tickets are available here.
