This is one of Bristol's best harbourside dining spots in which you can enjoy its meaty feasts, great menu and foodie favourites come rain or shine for a price that won't financially cripple you for the rest of the month.

Three Brothers Burgers is the American food restaurant that now inhabits Spyglass on the quayside in Bristol. On the menus its slogan proudly proclaims 'Proper dirty American food served with a Brizzle accent' - and with its range of burgers, BBQ chicken wings, hot dogs and steaks, that kind of don't-even-bother-with-cutlery ethos suits it perfectly.

A bit further down from the Glassboat, Three Brothers sits quite comfortably half on the quayside and half on a moored boat, and its atmosphere is comfortably chilled and informal where you can either pop in for just a pint or sit down for a meal.

During the summer, of course, the place is a frenzied melting pot of activity with drinkers and diners enjoying themselves and taking advantage of the al fresco dining area. When we visited, however, the weather was decidedly inclement, but the cold, drizzly weather did nothing to dampen our spirits as we sat next to a huge log fire which kept the place, and us, lovely and toasty warm.

For mains I went for the Three Brothers Mega Burger (£10) consisting of double patty, double sweet cured American bacon and double American cheese. The glazed soft buns sandwiched a meaty monolith of heavenly deliciousness, the sweet bacon thin and crispy and conflating with the perfectly cooked, succulent burger with the melting, oozing rich cheese.

My partner went for the Smokey BBQ Burger (£8), a patty topped with Applewood cheddar, sweet cured bacon, house made relish and crispy onions. It was equally divine and faultless, the onions adding an irresistible crunch to the amalgamation of juicy burger, cheese and sweet relish.

We also went for two separate portion of skin-on fries (£2.50 each) and it was brought on a big tray with two enamel white and blue rimmed camping plates to serve it up on.

Dessert took the rather elephantine form of a two-spoon Chocolate Brownie and Caramel Sundae (£8) - chocolate and plain ice cream, chocolate brownie pieces, drizzled in chocolate and caramel sauces, whipped cream and an assortment of chocolate treats. Oh, and a cherry on top. Sweet, delicious, utterly hedonistic, it was a sugary, creamy, chocolatey delight. We devoured it all. Just.

Washed down with a bottle of the apple-fermentingly excellent Thatcher's Katie cider, it was an indulgent gastronomic experience of superbly made tucker. The staff were equally excellent, attentive and friendly and made sure we were well looked after.

Three Brothers also run a lunch deal for £5, a Saturday and Sunday brunch offer, and a student deal of burger and fries for £5 any time of the week.

This is one of Bristol's best harbourside dining spots in which you can enjoy its meaty feasts, great menu and foodie favourites come rain or shine for a price that won't financially cripple you for the rest of the month.
