As Jake Burns and his men steam through classic tracks from the last three decades at a frantic pace the topical political issues are covered in "Silver Lining" and "Guilty As Sin?; still relevant in today's world.

On Sunday 6 March 2016, Belfast’s finest rolled into town and took the roof of Bristol’s O2 Academy. This event has now become an annual pilgrimage for die hard punk rockers. The band still has a huge following and have added a number of fans from a younger generations along the way. Since forming back in 1977, Stiff Little Fingers have played Bristol almost every year since.

Stiff Little Fingers

The crowd may be slightly older and have a little less hair than the first time they saw them but as the lights go down and the intro theme "Go For It" pumps through the speakers, the whole crowd turn back into teenagers.

The band appear from the dark and race in to "Wasted Life", the B side of their first single and still a firm favourite. From this moment on the mosh pit is owned by the under-twenty-ones who were not even born when this band hit the scene. As Jake Burns and his men steam through classic tracks from the last three decades at a frantic pace the topical political issues are covered in "Silver Lining" and "Guilty As Sin”; still relevant in today's world.

The big numbers are kept until the end... "Suspect Device", "Gotta Get Away" and "Alternative Ulster" driving the crowd into a frenzy. Still brilliant, still loud and still playing live, Stiff Little Fingers are as relevant today as they were 35 years ago. See you next year for more of the same.

5/5
