Filled with classic road trip shenanigans such as radio hopping, joyrides, and attempted bathroom breaks, the two analyze how they can function outside of the place that once tried to lock them in, and is now pushing them out.

A powerful message was told in a unique and profound way on the evening of Tuesday 19 January 2016, as The Project Theatre Company opened their 5-night run of Poll Function at The Alma Tavern and Theatre.

Poll Function Review at Alma Tavern in Bristol

Bristol-born scriptwright and actor, Greg Shewring, along with co-star Jon Pascoe take us on a reflective ride of “two west country plonkers who return to suburbia and wreak havoc on childhood dreams and a system they believed would bring them future opportunity.” Filled with classic road trip shenanigans such as radio hopping, joyrides, and attempted bathroom breaks, the two analyze how they can function outside of the place that once tried to lock them in, and is now pushing them out.

Both Shewring and Pascoe do a superb job of showcasing the range of acting abilities by yelling profanities seconds before articulating valuable lessons through elegant prose. These moments of change come as shocking and pleasant surprises in the mainly X-rated script. Their sensitive and relatable thoughts that appear amongst the clear frustration they have with society and the world emphasizes their stunning performances and encourages sympathy and understanding from each audience member, regardless of their age.

Be sure to take some time in the hour long performance to watch director and performer, Theo St. Claire, who moves the story along by narrating with realistic sound effects in the back seat. Never looking away from his fellow actors, he hangs on their every word and reacts throughout the show with phenomenal expressions worthy of attention.

Poll Function runs until this Saturday 23rd of January and with less than 50 seats available in the intimate black-box space, it is imperative you call ahead to reserve your tickets.

You can do just that by heading over to the Alma Tavern Theatre website www.almataverntheatre.co.uk and follow the link to 'Theatre' or just CLICK HERE.
