Kick starting the Easter bank holiday at The Fleece was a fantastic double headliner; Electric Swing Circus and Mr Tea & The Minions. Colourful balloons filled the venue as an excitable crowd waited for a night of live swinging gypsy-jazz music.

Bristol based Mr Tea & The Minions have been delighting festivals, clubs and pubs with their lively gypsy party music since 2014. As soon as they came on stage the crowd cheered and immediately began smiling, dancing and immersed in their upbeat, playful sound.

Each member of the band individually has brilliant talent, from singer Elle's powerful vocals to violinist Lucy's energetic playing, they all harmonise fantastically together. Jumping up and down and moving all around the stage, their energy inspired the audience. During the set they asked the crowd to get down onto the floor and rise back up as they begin the next song, this was great and I was surprised that everybody took part.

Playing for over an hour a collection of upbeat songs all written by themselves, violinist Lucy told the crowd how this was their last gig of their 'Get Your Mugs Out' tour and how wonderful it is to be playing in their home town of Bristol. In the middle of their set a member of the crowd passed singer Elle a party hat which she cheekily requested. The bands interaction with the audience further enhanced the happiness of the room, opening the evening with a bang and leaving everyone excited for more.

Next up was Electric Swing Circus, formed in 2011 taking influences from 20's swing and gypsy-jazz with a mix of electro beats. Retaining the same energy as Mr Tea, Electric Swing Circus took to the stage beginning an entertaining performance.

Dominating the stage was the stylish and sassy female singers, with their 1920's flapper fashion and dance moves. The mix of different fast beats with the vintage sound was captivating and had the whole crowd bouncing along and mesmerized with all the lively band members talent and energy.

Playing for hour and 15 minutes Electric Swing Circus' sound and performance was unique, fun and instantly made the crowd happy and full of life, just like the band. Speaking with guitarist and vocalist Tom afterwards he said they are heading to Europe to continue their tour, then back to England for festival season.

The night ended with DJ's Tuxedo Junction playing funky electro swing beats having the remaining crowd dancing until close. Overall it was a fantastic night, both bands have an amazing ability to get you moving and smiling even if you have never heard a single song by them before.
