For years I had dreamed of having the experience of what I call 'real' hip hop performers, get up on stage and drop it like its hot, and it never dawned on me the hard work and dedication not forgetting talent that these individuals possess.

Lets skip to the rewind...

That is how I felt after watching The Jungle Brothers at The Fleece in Bristol on Thursday 3rd September 215 in what was the most highly energetic and euphoric experience, which left me exhausted. And if I felt as timid as that I'd hate to think what the performers felt given that they left their hearts on the stage. It could have been taking 'breaking a leg' too literally, but believe you me it was worth it.

Enter on stage Mike Gee, a well groomed seasoned professional who seemed non-perplexed by the sombre somewhat 'lets see what you can do' attitude of the crowd. His tenuous effervescent tone blowing up the mic unselfishly supported by Bam who immediately decided to take it to another level and it is at this level the entire concert remained. A mind blowing experience that left many in awe, especially with 28 years of being in the game, this performance put many performers of today to shame.

'First you crawl then you walk, first you think then you talk...'

Through the noise there is always a message that ignites inspiration and positivity and pride, which is what I got from their eloquent potent lyrics unashamedly supported by their positive vibe and eclectic beats. This certainly was a recipe for an unforgettable experience which had the crowd in rapturous approval and the dialogue between the crowd and JB highly amusing. We were treated to their new material along with some timeless nostalgic classics that certainly had me reminiscing of when I could dance, and I mean really dance and not regret it in the morning. All three performers seemed unfazed and responded to the energy in the room effortlessly. Though they have been on the 'Legends Tour' they seemed to run on Duracell batteries!!

For years I had dreamed of having the experience of what I call 'real' hip hop performers, get up on stage and drop it like its hot, and it never dawned on me the hard work and dedication not forgetting talent that these individuals possess. I ticked one of my list however if they are ever back be sure not to miss it, and be on the lookout for their new material as I am sure it will be outstanding. A five star performance.

A big shout out to the extremely talented Joe Driscoll from Syracuse, New York (pictured below with Alvin) who supported The Jungle Brothers. I'd not heard of him before but this chap can make some serious music. He chops everything together live - combining beat box, tambourine and other instruments before adding guitar and then his voice. A great introduction from him and I'm sure he's won over a whole new batch of Bristol fans. Check him out at https://www.facebook.com/joedriscollmusic.
