Transatlantic Sessions at Colston hall in Bristol on Tuesday 6th February 2018

Following on from their award-winning BBC TV series, the Transatlantic Sessions come to the Colston Hall stage for a night of barnstorming live folk and country collaboration. Leading Celtic musicians will perform alongside their American counterparts, breathing new life into music from both sides of the Atlantic. Fresh from the success of last year’s sold out tour, fiddle maestro Aly Bain and dobro legend Jerry Douglas are joined by the ultimate house band and some very special guests…

The US contingent features longtime country queen Suzy Bogguss, and the sublime, alchemical harmonies of Muscle Shoals duo The Secret Sisters, aka Lydia and Laura Rogers. Arkansas-born multi-instrumentalist and producer Shawn Camp, revered for his work with Loretta Lynn, John Prine and Guy Clark, also features with Douglas in the Flatt & Scruggs-inspired supergroup Earls of Leicester.
A similarly stellar Celtic team includes multi-award-winning Dubliner Daoirí Farrell, hailed by Dónal Lunny as “one of the most important traditional singers to emerge in the last decade”, and  groundbreaking Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis.
Providing the singers with ultimate dream-team accompaniment, together with resplendent instrumental sets, are regular house-band luminaries John Doyle, Danny Thompson, Michael McGoldrick, Russ Barenberg, John McCusker, Donald Shaw and James Mackintosh.
