Iconic soul group The Stylistics have cultivated a distinctive sound over the last fifty years, earning them the status of a household name. Since their early days in the late ’60s, they have produced many chart-topping numbers, including the Grammy nominated ‘You Make Me Feel Brand New’, and classics such as ‘Can’t Give You Anything (But My Love)’ and ‘Betcha By Golly Wow’. The Stylistics are a soul music vocal group, and were one of the best-known Philadelphia soul groups of the 1970s. They formed in 1968, comprising singers Russell Thompkins, Jr., Herb Murrell, Airrion Love, James Smith, and James Dunn. All of their US hits were ballads, graced by the soaring falsetto voice of Russell Thompkins, Jr. and the lush productions of Thom Bell, which helped make the Stylistics one of the most successful soul groups of the first half of the 1970s.
