Suzanne Vega at The Colston Hall in Bristol on Sunday 24 September 2017

Suzanne Vega will perform at The Colston Hall in Bristol on Sunday 24 September 2017.

With her distinctive and cutting vocals, matched with her unique storytelling, legendary New York singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega has carved a unique career in folk music that has spanned over three decades and captivated audiences worldwide.

To mark the 30th Anniversary of her Grammy nominated album ‘Solitude Standing’ and the 25th Anniversary of the genre and boundary pushing ‘99.9F’, Vega will perform both of these iconic albums in full as well as tracks from throughout her distinguished career.

Sultry voiced singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega  grew up in Spanish Harlem, New York. Whilst attending Barnard College, she played small venues around Greenwich Village, before scoring a major label contract in 1984. After a well received first album, Vega broke through with her second album, ‘Solitude Standing’, which included the international hits ‘Tom’s Diner’ and ‘Luka’.

Over the years, Vega has worked with composer Phillip Glass, had her music sampled by the likes of Tupac Shakur and dance group DNA, and become the first recording artist to play live in the internet-based virtual world, Second Life. She is also a writer, and co-wrote a play with Duncan Sheik about the life of the writer Carson McCullers, which was nominated for Outstanding Music in a Play for the Drama Desk Awards.

Tickets are £33.40 including booking fee.
