WNO: Madam Butterfly at The Bristol Hippodrome from 31 March 2017

Madam Butterfly will be staged on Friday 31 March 2017 to 1 April 2017 at The Bristol Hippodrome.

Madam Butterfly by Joachim Herz has been with us for more than 30 years and with reasonable reason. It is a classic conventional staging of this beloved opera. It remains completely faithful to the composer’s intention and it also critiques the imperialism. Every single scene is like a photograph from which we can get a glimpse of a vanished world.

Running time approximately two hours and 45 minutes including one interval

Sung in Italian with surtitles in English (and Welsh in Cardiff and Llandudno)

Supported by WNO Friends
