I am Making Art

These monthly activity sessions are led by artists and take place in the Spike Island Café. Visitors of all ages and abilities can try out new techniques and approaches to making art, from drawing and painting to collage, sculpture and animation and are invited to drop in any time during the session.

Alexander Stevenson

Alexander Stevenson (b. 1981 in Maidenhead, UK) mines information using processes usually associated with anthropologists, historians and researchers to create artworks, journeys and films. Huge fabric sculptures, live theatrical performances, and narratives generated from remote locations, are just a few outcomes of these interests.

Recent commissions include: Counterscript, Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow (2014); Re-wilding, Xero, Kline & Coma, London (2014); and Magic Eye, Grand Union, Birmingham (2013).
