The perfect way for girls to get into golf

This Girl Rocks is a free taster day on Thursday 20th April at Bristol's Long Ashton Golf Club from 12pm to 1:30pm for any girl aged in their teens, regardless of whether they have played previously. Bethan Popel calls this course home and recently turned pro. Who will be next to follow in her footsteps?

Long Ashton is the home course of Ryder Cup team member Chris Wood. He honed his skills there and is now a regular fixture in the top 50 of the world rankings. It's also home to Bethan Popel, who was one of the country's leading amateur female golfers before recently turning professional.

It's the perfect chance to get in to a new sport, or develop your skills at one you already love. Groups of friends are more than welcome to come along together. It's completely free and there's no obligation to continue afterwards.

However, if the session gets you interested in golf then this taster will be followed up by a 5 week beginner course starting on Saturday 29th April from 1-2pm at a total cost of just £14 and all equipment can be provided. For more information or to book a spot at the event simply call the pro shop on 01275 392229 (option 1).

“I would recommend anyone to consider joining Long Ashton because it is such a friendly members club with great practice facilities and most importantly a really good golf course! The club has been very supportive to me and has helped me to progress to get to where I am today.” Bethan Popel
