Festival of Sound at Colston Hall in Bristol on Sunday 22nd April 2018

The UWE Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1992 and, like the Singers, is made up of students, staff, friends and alumni of the University. They perform a challenging and varied repertoire in venues such as Bristol Cathedral, St George’s Bristol and Colston Hall, also accompanying the University Singers in concerts throughout the year including the annual UWE Carol Service. Performances have included Holst’s The Planets, Shostakovich’s Symphony No.5, Respighi’s Pines of Rome, Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, Dvorak’s Symphony No.8, Verdi’s Requiem and Jenkins’ The Armed Man.

The UWE Singers is a choir of around 170 voices. Concerts to date have included performances of Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s Creation, Orff’s Carmina Burana and – in collaboration with other choral societies – memorable performances at Colston Hall of Verdi’s Requiem, Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast and, in March 2012, a joint performance with the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus of David Fanshawe’s African Sanctus.

Tickets are £5.38 including booking fee.
