Erased Tapes is ten at The Colston Hall in Bristol from Tuesday 12 to Wednesday 13 September 2017.
Over the last ten years, the record label Erased Tapes has nurtured avant-garde artists from all around the world whilst remaining genre-defying and truly independent.
This takeover at Colston Hall is a celebration of ten years of “the heart-string-tugging London label” and their unique music “that floats gently between 20th century composition and ambient music” (Rolling Stone) with performances from artists including Kiasmos, Lubomyr Melnyk, Penguin Cafe, Rival Consoles plus many more.

Founded by German-born Robert Raths in 2007, the London-based label Erased Tapes has grown and extended across the world with satellite offices in Los Angeles and Berlin.
Dedicated to releasing sonically rich avant-garde and contemporary classical music, Erased Tapes has become a meeting point and melting pot for innovative and imaginative musicians and grown into “one of the most important record labels of the last few years” (Gilles Peterson, BBC Radio 6 Music).
The takeover, celebrating ten years of the label, begins in majestic force on Tuesday 12 September with the soaring electronic sounds of Kiasmos alongside the labels first ever signing Rival Consoles with his masterful “haunting, emotive electronic-music based storytelling” (Pitchfork).
Meanwhile, in The Lantern, Lubomyr Melnyk will be performing his pioneering piano compositions and wielding a “heart tingling” (The Guardian) unbroken stream of sound following the haunting voice of Douglas Dare who opens the evening.
On Wednesday 13 September the Hall sees Allred & Broderick share their reflective folk minimalism, and later the eclectic sounds of Penguin Cafe whose slowly evolving compositions will take you from traditional folk, through South American rhythms to afrobeat with “exoticism and variety” (The Guardian).
Our foyer will also be filled with the sonic serenity of Erased Tapes as Berlin-based composer and musician Masayoshi Fujita takes the vibraphone to new heights after Brandt Brauer Frick drummer Daniel Brandt performs beautiful pieces from his debut solo album Eternal Something.
