Devin Townsend will be at Colston Hall in Bristol on Sunday 12 March 2017.

Following on from the recent announcement of studio album Transcendence, due for worldwide release on 9th September, Devin Townsend Project have confirmed a much anticipated UK tour which kicks off in Bristol in March 2017. The tour will also see the band visit Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, London and Nottingham.

‘Transcendence’, the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Z2’ double-album (half of which was made up of the full-length ‘Sky Blue’), sees the award-winning Townsend exploring a relatively new way of working, collaborating with the entire DTP band during the writing stages of the record. “The result of this process is a record that I truly think the intention of is special” he says of the album. “I am very proud of it and everyone involved.”

The last 2 years since the release of ‘Z2’ have seen Townsend busier and more ambitious than ever, culminating last November in the release of ‘Ziltoid Live At The Royal Albert Hall’, a brilliant document of the sold-out show at the famous London venue that saw them bring the Ziltoid story to life on stage in his most impressive production yet.

Across all his bands and projects, since being discovered in 1993, the Canadian multi instrumentalist has released 23 studio albums and 3 live albums. Townsend’s trademark production style and versatile vocal delivery are rooted in metal and his albums are written to express different aspects of his personality.

The Canadian isn’t too interested in keeping an even musical keel. “Music, in my opinion, is ideally the exhaust for whatever you’re going through in life,” Townsend explains. “Rather than the focus, it should be the outcome. As such, each record just naturally leads to the next, and if they’re done correctly they become an accurate representation, like a snapshot of a particular frame of mind”.

Townsend will be joined on stage by Dave Young (guitar), Mike St-Jean (keyboards), Ryan Van Poederooyen (Drums) and Brian Waddel (drums).
