There's plenty going on

It also now manages The Brewery Theatre which is located across the road at 291 North Street and also has an extensive programme of events.

One of the theatres stated aims is to be a cultural hub for the local community whilst reaching as wide an audience as possible and in 2012 over one-hundred-thousand audience members enjoyed performances there.

The Tobacco Factory is constantly looking to develop creative and business partnerships with other venues, artists, performers and theatre companies on a local, national and international level.

The venue is available for private hire and including the two main auditoriums and other rooms there are six usable spaces ranging in size and suitability for events whether they be public performances or private gatherings. Individually the spaces can comfortably accommodate groups ranging in number from thirty to three hundred and fifty people. The spaces can be altered to host occasions as diverse as concerts, lectures, business conferences, weddings, christenings, office parties, dance rehearsals or yoga classes.

The building that houses the venue was originally the Imperial Tobacco Factory which at one point employed 40% of the local work-force before the company relocated away from Bristol in the 1980's. The building fell into disuse until a decade later when the Show of Strength Theatre Company began to rehearse and perform there developing it into a 250 seat theatre, café bar and mixed-use community space. By then named The Tobacco Factory Theatre it became a charity in 2007 and in 2009 entered into a partnership with Bristol City Council as a Key Arts Provider.
