A family-friendly independent pub on the outskirts of Bristol

The Duck and Willow is a family-run pub for families, serving food and drink out of Downend Road with a focus on local, independent produce - from the people who brought you The Gloucester Old Spot.

Duck and Willow

Anyone who has visited The Gloucester Old Spot will recognise the same unpretentious formula for a top quality boozer in its sister pub, The Duck and Willow: namely, simple food executed excellently and a wide selection of drinks, all to be enjoyed in a warm, welcoming environment.

This is created by owners Amy Devenish and Tom Brownell, who between them can draw upon almost 30 years of catering experience, with this taking in various esteemed and Michelin starred establishments across the South West, and nearly every job in the industry. Having distilled all of this proven know-how into a working partnership whilst crafting the Old Spot, the pair have finessed their product into what they believe to be the perfect family pub: the result is The Duck and Willow.

The pub therefore aims to be local in its every element, from the furnishing down to the food – their lunch, dinner and Sunday menus are powered by the Gloucester Old Spot pigs, which have become synonymous with the pinnacle Bristol’s pork produce for instance, the interior decorated with the pictures and paintings of artists from the South West.

It is a boozer engrained within the traditions of Bristol and the surrounding region, a living, breathing, boozing love letter to the area written by its owners as a testament to their time working here. Their labour of love is evident in a single whiff of their kitchen or the first sip of their eclectic craft ale selection.
