Art, Archaeology, Geology and Natural History

Bristol Museum and Art Gallery houses collections of art, archaeology, geology and natural history of regional, national and international importance.

The ground floor houses World Cultures exhibits and is a combination of Ethnography (the study of the material culture and everyday things) and foreign archaeology. There are 10,000 artefacts on show from the Americas, Africa and the Pacific and the histories of the Egyptian, Mediterranean, Greek, Roman, Assyrian, Mycenean, and near East cultures.

The first floor is home to Natural Sciences and here visitors can find Geology, Minerals, Wildlife and Dinosaurs, including Bristols very own and the most complete dinosaur skeleton ever found in Britain.

Art Galleries are found on the second floor and the exhibits include French art, pottery and ceramics, and Eastern art.

The museum also houses a discovery area for children under seven, a shop and cafe plus plays host to numerous activities including workshops, arts and crafts, exhibition events and tours, family fun days, holiday activities, educational walks and lectures
