This year’s event will see CrimeFest award the 2024 Crime Writers’ Association Diamond Dagger Award to two legends of the genre. The veteran New York Times best-seller and multi-award-winning author of the Dave Robicheaux series, James Lee Burke will be beamed into the convention.

Also receiving the Award will be one of British TV’s most sought-after writers of crime fiction, Lynda La Plante CBE. Best known for writing the legendary Helen Mirren starring Prime Suspect TV series, she has also won the Crime Writers’ Association of Britain’s Diamond Dagger for her contribution to the crime and mystery genre.

Elsewhere, there will be appearances from bestselling, award-winning journalist and author of the Tess Monaghan series, Laura Lippman, alongside Denise Mina, writer of both the DI Alex Morrow and Paddy Meehan books (now the BBC TV series, The Field of Blood) - both of which are based in Glasgow.

This year’s convention will also honour the late great P.D. James, who penned 14 books featuring the iconic police commander and poet, Adam Dagliesh. The 2024 Leader of Toasts is award-winning crime writer, Cathy Ace. These authors are just a drop in the ocean of what CrimeFest have to offer, browse the full programme here.
